If you missed our first ever Yarn Durango Retreat in October 2018, we have another one planned. We have some dates nailed down, so time to start looking at your calendar to see if you can join us. We have added an extra night this time around to accommodate being able to learn how to set up a loom. Registration and pricing are not yet available, but our Spring Weaving Retreat will be held Monday, May 20th four 4 nights, checking out on Friday, May 24th.
This four-night retreat will take place about an hour away from Durango in the lovely town of Dolores, Colorado. We have collaborated with Kathie Butler to bring you a very exclusive experience available to the first five people who sign up. Kathie owns and operates The Nature Center in Dolores that features hiking trails, alpacas, a welcome center, and an awesome weaving studio where the retreat classes will be held. She also owns and operates Critter Mountain Ranch, which is close to The Nature Center, and is where we will be spending the four nights for the retreat.
The retreat is an all-inclusive adventure featuring four nights’ accommodation at Critter Mountain Ranch and includes most meals, (be sure to let us know if you have food allergies), a tour of The Nature Center facilities, and four days of studio time/class instruction. The finished project will be a beautiful woven scarf with alpaca yarn from Kathie’s own alpacas. Don’t worry, Kathie will have the looms set up for you already. This is a great time to dip your toes into the world of weaving with some friends.
Critter Mountain Ranch is a 1600 square foot ranch home that has been split up into accommodations appropriate for up to 5 people. Joy Caldwell will be your hostess for the retreat. We are not taking registration at this time, but please look for the announcement in the March 2019 newsletter for the date to sign up.
